Abstract

Rohmaningsih, Eli. 2021. PRAGMATICS ANALYSIS: SPEECH ACT ON COMMENTARY SECTION OF MUNIBA MAZARI YOUTUBE CHANNEL. A Graduating Paper Submitted to The Board of Examiners As A Partial Fulfillment of The Requirements for The Bachelor Degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd.). State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum. Speech act is an actions carried out in saying something. It exists in the utterance which can be spoken or written. As a written expression, the utterances can be found in social media especially on commentary section for example YouTube. Therefore, the researcher intended to analyze the kind of speech act found on commentary section of social media. The object of the research were comments of Muniba Mazari’s YouTube Channel. The methodology of this research was descriptive qualitative research. The research consisted of four steps, they were; searching, selecting, analyzing, and describing. The data analysis technique was used by the researcher is inferential method. The researcher used Searle and Vanderveken’s theory to analysis the kind of speech act. There are four classifications found in the comments. Those are assertive, commissive, directive, and expressive. There are 92 utterances of assertive, 4 utterances of commissive, 12 utterances of the directive, and 15 utterances of expressive. The most dominant part of the speech act classification found on the comments is assertive which has 92 utterances which expressed on a percentage as 74.80%. The result of the research can improve pragmatic analysis. The researcher concludes that speech act can be found on social media as a platform to do communicate To know the meaning carried out by the speech act, people have to learn more about it.
