Abstract

ABSTRACT Putrianty, Maydhi Pipin.2020 A Syntactic Analysis of Noun Phrase in Narrative Text Written by The Fourth Semester Students of English Education Department of Iain Salatiga 2020. A Graduating paper, English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN Salatiga). Counsellor: Noor Malihah, Ph.D. This graduating paper is analyzes about types of Noun Phrase construction. One of thing important and basic but the most student often ignore. This important in the writing process to improve writing skill when the student write a text. The objectives of this research were to describe types of noun phrase construction. This research used qualitative research.The data source were collected from the students’ writing of fourth semester. The whole data are obtained from 13 data respondent found by the writer. Based on the analysis, the writer found that there are 6 constructions of Noun phrase and the dominant construction 1 is determiner + head. From research finding, the researcher concludes that there are six construction of Noun Phrase in English language. Sometimes Noun Phrase has only determiner + noun. Key words: Noun Phrase, construction, Narrative text.
