Abstract

Arifah, Azizatul. 2020. An Analysis of Politeness of Drect Utterance on Motivation Comments on Social Media Related to KPOP Artist. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training, and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Mr. Faizal Risdiyando, S.S., M.Hum. The object of the study is directive utterance to find the type and the meaning of directive utterance on motivation comments on social media. the object of this research is motivation comments on social media (Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter) relate with Directive utterance. The methodology of this research was qualitative research. The technique of collecting data by taking notes, transcribing and observation. To find the types and the meaning of Directive utterance on motivation comments on social media. The researcher found 50 utterance the form of directive utterance on motivation comments on social media there are: Declarative sentence 7, interrogative sentence 3, imperative sentence 38, and exclamatory sentence 2, and the meaning of directive utterance researcher finds six the types the dominant of directive utterance on motivation comments on social media there are: requesting 7, ordering 14, command 10, inviting 10, advising 7, and recommending 2. Key Words: Politeness, Directive Utterance, motivation, Social Media, Pragmatics.
