Abstract

This research is aimed to find out student opinion on the use of the New Concept book to learn English. Thus research answered two questions (1) What are the students’ opinions of using the New Concept book to learn English at BEC (Basic English Course)? (2) What are the benefits taken by students in learning English using the New Concept book? The research design of this research was qualitative research. The data is collected through questionnaire and interview. 15 students’ alumni of Basic English Course (BEC) Pare Kediri participated in this research. This research explores the students’ opinion which come from the students’ experiences, qualitative approach is considered as an appropriate approach and descriptive as type of research. From the research, the researcher could conclude that the New Concept Book facilitate, motivate, and helpful for students in English language learning. Furthermore, students' motivation towards English language learning improved by New Concept Book. In addition, students had a positive attitude towards this learning model. In light of the findings of the study, it is recommended that teachers should plan learning classes that use the New Concept book as a learning platform.
