Abstract

ABSTRACT Nur Afidatul Umamah, Siti. 2021. A Correlation Between Students Reading Habit and Their Achievement in Writing Recount Text of The Third Grade Students of Ma Darut-Taqwa Purwodadi in Academic Year 2020/2021. A Graduating Paper, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, English Education Department, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Setia Rini, M. Pd. Key words: Reading Habit, writing recount, correlation. The purpose on the research is to find the score of correlation between students reading habit and their achievement writing recount text of the third grade of MA Darut-Taqwa Purwodadi in academic year 2020/2021. This research use quantitative research method. The data collection technique used two instuments, they are 1). Questionnaire to find out the students’ reading habit score and 2). Writing test to find out the students’ writing recount text score, and to find of correlation between students’ reading habit and their achievements writing score of third grade of MA Darut-Taqwa Purwodadi in the academic year 2020/2021. The validity of the research, uses SPSS Statistics 24 in counting the instrument. The amount of student is forty five students with r-table n= 45(α5% = 0,294). So, the number of the validity of the questionnaire should be more than 0,294. The result from this research showed the average questionnaire score is 66.31. When it is consulted to the table of category level of the score is good categorized. The score of the students’ writing test is 73.22. When its consulted to the table of category level scores the score is good categorized. Recalling the r_xy observed value of the correlation between students’ reading habit and their achievement writing recount text of writing apllied to the sample is 0.708. In order to know that extend both variables correlation each other, the standard of correlation coefficient. Based on the result of the resarch, it is shown that there a positive significant correlation between to variables they are student reading habit and writing recount text. Its mean reading habit can be improve of students’ writing skllis, expecially in MA Darut-Taqwa Purwodadi in academic year 2020/2021. So, a correlation between students reading habit and their achievement writing recount text of the third grade of MA Darut-Taqwa Purwodadi in academic year 2020/2021 is significant correlation.
