Abstract

This study expected the sorts of expressive speech acts utilized by the English Teacher and to discover the most successive of expressive speech acts used by English teacher at SMK Dharma Lestari Salatiga, This study used of descriptive qualitative research. The English instructor and a class of tenth grade learners were the focus of this study. This study's data consisted of all utterances delivered by an English instructor that included expressive speech acts. This study used four meetings in the educating and learning measure. As per Searle's thought, the information is expressive for thank, expressive for apologize, expressive for congratulation, expressive for greeting, expressive for wishes, and expressive for attitude. This examination applied triangulation strategy to help the information validity. The information were gathered by perception or observation, recording and translating. The discoveries of examination show that from six sorts of expressive discourse acts, the researcher found expressive for thank (4 information), apologize (11 information), congratulation (40 information), welcoming or greeting (16 information), wishes (8 information), attitude (22 information).Expressive for congratulation was generally dominant utilized by English educator in encouraging learning measure and the less prevailing was expressive for wises.
