Abstract
The term of Islamic preaching (da’wa) is etymologically the masdar of word da’a-yad’u-da’watan which means to call, to invite, to persuade, to provoke, to communicate, to inform, to urge, to motivate, and to pray. In addition to the word “da’wa”, the Qur’an also uses words that have almost the same meaning, namely “tabligh” which means delivery, and “bayan” which means explanation. This definition suggests that preaching (da’wa) is activity carriyng out consciously, systematically and sustainably by devoting all the potential possessed, both individually and collectively. Preaching activities are usually oriented to two interrelated spaces (external and internal), namely; first, external activities aimed at non-Muslim communities by inviting and providing information to them to embrace Islam. Second, internal activities target the Muslim community to improve the quality of understanding, comprehension, and practice of the teachings of Islam in all settings of life and carry out amar ma’ruf nahimunkar. Preaching activity is essentially an effort to actualize the awareness of faith manifested in an integrated system of human life. This is usually manifested in social fields in an orderly and sustainable manner to be able to internalize and influence the way of thinking, feeling, behaving and behaving of humans on a personal or socio-cultural level.
