Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the problems of pre-service teachers in carrying out micro teaching practice activities, 6th semester students majoring in English education at IAIN Salatiga for the 2020/2021 academic year, and the role of lecturers during micro teaching learning. This research employed qualitative research to collect and analyze data. It was conducted to 15 students and one lecturer. The data collection techniques used observations and interview with students and lecturers to find out student problems and lecture role to develop students’ performance. The author found that the problems of students in carrying out micro teaching practice and the role of lecturers during micro teaching learning were 13 students said that they had problems with the use of English, 12 students said they had problems with using the right media, 11 students felt nervous during presentations. 10 students find it difficult to interact with students, 6 students have difficulty in mastering the material. The lecturer said that his role during micro teaching learning was to always provide feedback, suggestion, and comments, and 15 students said that this role helped students in improving their performance.
