Abstract

The research aimed at knowing the students’ enthusiasm in learning English using audio-visual media and how the student level at the enthusiasm in learning English at SMP N 7 Salatiga. There were 31 students of seventh grade students of SMP N 7 Salatiga participated in the research. This research was quantitative research which employed descriptive quantitative approach to analyze the data. The data was collected through two observations checklist and a questionnaire. From the result above, the researcher concludes that many students are paid attention to learning English when using audiovisual media. Gestures, body movements, and facial expressions showed up that they are good at learning English. Students seem to pay attention to their facial gestures showing that they look focused on learning. They agree that audiovisuals can help to increase their enthusiasm for learning English. Although, technical problems occurred such as the absence of audio. It triggered a decrease in enthusiasm and spirit. Furthermore, another obstacle is the signal. That is not supported to cause the visuals and audio to be unclear. These obstacles were involved the low students' interest in learning English. it hampered understanding the material. Keywords: Students’ Enthusiasm, Audio-visual Media.
