Abstract

Expression is the act of making thoughts, feelings, etc, known by speech, writing, or other means, the act of expressing something. Like written expressions, these expressions can be found on social media especially in the comments section such as Twitter. Therefore, the researcher are interested to analyze the expressions of anger and rejection found in the comments section of social media. The object of research is comments from Joe Biden's Twitter account. The methodology of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data analysis technique used by the researcher is analysis document. The researcher used Madlow’s theory of pragmatics form of expressing anger and Kartomihardjo theory of rejection expression. There are two classifications found in the comments. It's the expression of anger, the expression of rejection. There are 115 anger expressions and 40 rejection expressions. Research results can improve pragmatic analysis. The researcher concludes that speech acts can be found on social media as a platform for communicating to find out the meaningscarried out by these speech acts, people should learn more aboutthem.
