Abstract

ABSTRACT Nadhifah, Ulfatun. 2022. Analysis of Students’ Difficulties in Writing Descriptive Text through Asynchronous online learning. A Graduating Paper. English Education and Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Mr. Hanung Triyoko, M. Hum., M.Ed., The objectives of this study are to determine the students' difficulties and the factors which make students feel difficult in writing descriptive text through asynchronous online learning based on linguistic problems, then to determine the solutions to minimize the difficulties in writing, especially in descriptive text. This research was conducted at MTs Yakti Tegalrejo Magelang in academic year 2021/2022. The total of students are 24 students. This research was conducted in April 11th - April 23th, 2022. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The technique of collecting data was taken from the results of document analysis, questionnaire distribution, and interview with the English teacher and students. The result of this study shows that the difficulties in writing descriptive text based on linguistic problems through asynchronous online learning faced by students are grammar, vocabulary, mechanics, fluency, and form. The factors that cause these difficulties are internal factors and external factors. Furthermore, the solutions are the teacher should be able to give more explanation after the students’ product writing or after the students do exercise in writing, the teacher should more creative in teaching through asynchronous online learning, and collaboration and communication between all components in MTs Yakti Tegalrejo Magelang.
