Abstract

ABSTRACT Hariyani, Dini. 2022. The Implementation of TED-Ed videos to Learn English. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S M.Hum. The objectives of the study are to analyze the implementation of TED-Ed videos to learn English, and to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the use of TED-Ed videos to learn English. The research methodology was qualitative research, mainly descriptive qualitative as a research design. The researcher collected data primarily using a questionnaire and observation. The research subject in this study was the seventh-grade students in the 7A class of MTs Yakti Tegalrejo. The researcher finds that in implementing TED-Ed videos to learn English, the user focuses on using TED-Ed videos that are available on the TED-Ed YouTube channel. Furthermore, the research subjects give positive responses to the use of TED-Ed to learn English. This study also discovered issues that need to be addressed when using TED-Ed to teach English. This issue is on students' understanding of using TED-Ed, where they still do not fully comprehend the features. This must be improved more to become an autonomous learner. The findings also indicated some advantages of the use of TED-Ed videos to learn English. They were TED-Ed videos encourages students to learn English, TED-Ed videos simplifies the process of learning English, this TED-Ed videos platform is suitable for students, and TED-Ed videos improve students' English skill. Then TED-Ed has no disadvantages to learning English and the user determines the difficulty of accessing TED-Ed videos. Key Words: Implementation; TED-Ed Video; Learning English
