Abstract

The research is about the use of make a match technique to improve student’s vocabulary mastery for the seventh grade students of MTs Yasinta Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022. The objectives of research are to find out the implementation of make a match technique to improve vocabulary mastery and to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery by using make a match technique. The methodology of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were two cycles; each cycle consisted of four steps, they were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the research shows that the implementation of make a match technique to improve vocabulary mastery for the seventh grade students of MTs Yasinta Salatiga in the academic year of 2021/2022 was successful. It can be seen from students’ attention, activeness, enthusiasm, and participation. The students who passed the passing grade improved gradually from cycle one and cycle two. The improvement was showed in each cycle which presented pre-test and post-test. The passing grade of English lesson was 70 and the success indicator was 85%. The outcome of the cycle two was 100 % of the total number of the students. The success indicator was achieved. So the researcher stopped the research. Thus, the implementation of “make a match” technique proved that it could significantly improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. Key words: make a match technique, vocabulary mastery
