Abstract

ABSTRACT Mahendra, Ivan. 2022. Students' Perception on Speaking Learning Method Used During Online Learning at the English Education Department Students of IAIN Salatiga Batch 2020. Objective of this research is finding and deciding the most appropriate speaking learning method based on the perception of the English Education Department students of IAIN Salatiga batch 2020 during the online learning which they had done approximately in from 2020 until 2021. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of the research are the English Education Department students of IAIN Salatiga Batch 2020. Data collection method that used in the research is questionnaire and documentation. The data was validated using source triangulation which is responses from the student and method triangulation which are questionnaire and documentation. After conducting the research, it is known that for overall online learning for speaking class is not helpful for the respondents. There were so many problems that appeared in the class, especially around internet connection and the lack of material understanding. The most common speaking learning method that used in the class is task-based method using voice recording media. From the collected data, it can be concluded that combining between synchronous learning and asynchronous learning is the most appropriate speaking learning method during the online learning.
