Abstract

The objectives of this study are to know out the realization of teaching English to young learners in pandemic era at MIN Salatiga and MI Ma’arif Sraten, to know the challenges teachers in teaching English to young learners in the pandemic era at MIN Salatiga and MI Ma’arif Sraten, and to find out how to overcome the challenges in teaching English to young learners at MIN Salatiga and MI Ma’arif Sraten. The researches were conducted at MIN Salatiga and MI Ma’arif Sraten in academic year 2021/2022. The researches were conducted on March 29&30, 2022 at MI Ma’arif Sraten and on April 21&23, 2022. The type of this research is qualitative research. The technique of collect the data was taken from observations in classroom and interviews with the teachers. The result of this study shows that there are several challenges faced by teachers in teaching English to young learners in pandemic era. In MIN Salatiga, the challenges are lack of lack of motivation, less supportive learning resource, and lack of attention. In MI Ma’arif Sraten, the challenges are lack of motivation, limited learning resource, and background of the teacher. Furthermore, to overcome the challenges, the teacher has some solutions such as change the motivation, add learning resources, and pay attention. Meanwhile, to overcome the challenges in MI Ma’arif Sraten is provides the motivation, provides material from existing materials, and improves the English skill.
