Abstract

ABSTRACT Shidqi, Dzulfikar Sauqy. 2016. The Analysis of Illocutionary Act in English Teaching Learning Process Used by Teachers in the Islamic Junior High School Nurul Islam.Graduating Paper English Education Department of State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Mr. Hanung Triyoko, SS, M.Hum, M.Ed, Keywords: Illocutionarry acts, and classroom language. The aims of this research are (1) to know the types of illocutionary acts in English teaching learning process and (2) to find out the dominant type of illocutionary acts in English teaching learning process used by the teachers of the second grades in SMP IT Nurul Islam Tengaran. The research method that is used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of the research were 2 teachers who teach English in second grade at SMP IT Nurul Islam Tengaran. The researcher observed the utterances of English teacher, collected the data, reduced the data and grouped the data. This researcher founds 243 teacher’s utterance that contain illocutionary acts force. The result of this research shows that the teacher used 4 illocutionary acts they are; representatives, expressives, directives, and commissives. And the declaratives are not found in this research. The directives are the most frequent illocutionary acts with 170 data (69, 96%). Representatives with 43 data (17, 70%) and expressives with 21 data (8, 64%). While commissives are fewest with 9 data (3, 70 %). Questioning is the most dominants of the illocutionary function with 92 datum (37, 87%). On the other hand appreciating, encouraging, forbiding have fewest illocutionary function with only 1 datum (0, 41%).
