Abstract

Nurhaniif, Ajeng Aufa. 2022. “ The Use of Google Jamboard as a Medium to Improve Students Writing Skill (A Classroom Action Research at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Bringin)”. A graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Mashlihatul Umami, M.A. The study's objectives are as follows: (1) To know the implementation of Google Jamboard to improve students’ ability in writing at the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bringin in the academic year 2021/2022. (2) To find out how far the improvement of the students’ writing ability after being taught using Google Jamboard at the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bringin in the academic year 2021/2022. The research’subject are fifteen students of the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Bringin. Classroom Action Research was used in this study. The research is divided into two cycles, each of which consists of four steps: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data collected was both qualitative and quantitative. The implementation of Google Jamboard was successful in getting students to pay attention and understand the materials, and being active, enthusiastic, and enjoying the learning process. Then, it makes it easier for the teacher to deliver the materials with funny and interesting situation. The students' writing skills were improved after they used Google Jamboard to create a descriptive text. It can be seen in the students who write a descriptive text with different vocabulary, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization. The implementation of Google Jamboard also helps students enhance their descriptive text writing skills, as indicated by an improvement in T-test results from cycle I to cycle II. Cycle I has a T- table of 8.462 and Cycle II has a T- table of 10.23. Based on these findings, the researcher suggests that Google Jamboard be used in the teaching writing activity.
