Annisa, Nitis Nur. 2022. STUDENTS’ ANXIETY IN READING ALOUD DURING ENGLISH LEARNING AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF MTs N 4 CILACAP IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2021/2022. A Graduating Paper. Counselor: Aprilian Ria Adisti, M.Pd The objective of this study are: to find out the factors of causing students’ anxiety in reading aloud during English learning at the eighth grade of MTs N 4 Cilacap and to find out the teacher’s strategies to overcome the problems of students’ anxiety in reading aloud during English learning at the eighth grade of MTs N 4 Cilacap. This study uses a qualitative method. The subjects in this study were 8D class of MTs N 4 Cilacap. Data was collected by using a observation, questionnaire to determine the factor of causing students’ anxiety. Interviews were conducted to obtain more in-depth information that was not available on the observation and questionnaire. The results of observation showed that the biggest factor of causing students’ anxiety was fear of making mistakes. Based on questionnaires and interviews, various factors of causing students’ anxiety in reading aloud during English learning. There are at least five factors found in this study, namely they feel that the reading aloud in English learning is difficult is a difficult, shyness and lack of confidence, fear of making mistakes, fear of being laughed at or mocked by their friends or classmates, and lack of ability (vocabulary, motivation, preparation and grammatical error). Whereas the result that the teacher’s strategies to overcome the problems of students’ anxiety in reading aloud during English learning has various strategies, there are: preparation, positive thinking, build a good atmosphere while learning, peer groups, and using games method while learning.
