Abstract

Mufarida, 2022. The implementation Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) to improve Reading Comprehension of the Narrative Text at the Ninth grade of SMPN 1 Bonang Demak in the Academic Year 2021/2022. A graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga, Counselor : Dr. Setia Rini, M.Pd. The objectives of the study are: to find out the result of the implementation of collaborative strategic reading (CSR) to improve reading comprehension of the Narrative text at the ninth grade of SMPN 1 Bonang in the academic year 2021/2022. The number of subjects of the research are 28 students of IX A SMPN 1 Bonang. The methodology of this research is classroom action research. This research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, namely; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data collected is qualitative but also supported by quantitative data. Qualitative data obtained through observation and documentation. Data in the form of field notes, observation checklists and photos. While quantitative data were collected from the test. The researcher used IBM SPSS V.25 to analyze the test. The researcher found that there was a significant increase in students' reading comprehension after being given treatment using collaborative strategic reading (CSR) techniques in cycle I and cycle II. The results of the pre-test cycle I were 0% of students who achieved completeness. The total percentage of students who did not achieve completeness in the post-test cycle I was 39.3%. while in the Post-test cycle II, there were students who passed the passing grade, and the presentation was 89,3% in the post-test cycle II. Thus, the target of passing grade presentation has been achieved. Key Words: Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR), Narrative text, Reading Comprehension
