Abstract

Nurul Khusna, Umi. 2021. The Correlation of Curiosity and Reading Habit to Writing Mastery of Fifth Semester Student’s Collage in the Academic year 2021/ 2022. A graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counsellor : Dr. Ruwandi, S.Pd., M.A The purpose of this study was to find out, 1.) Curiosity influence the student's writing mastery on fifth semester student's of English Education Department. 2.) Reading habit influence student’s writing mastery on fifth semester student's of English Education Department. 3.) influence of curiosity and reading habit influence student’s writing mastery on fifth semester student's of English Education Department. The study used a quantitative correlational approach. Data collection techniques are random techniques. Researcher share the questionnaire of curiosity and questionnaires reading habits, then collected score of writing course on fifth semester. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. The analysis results showed that 1) there is a correlation between curiosity and Writing Mastery because the T Count calculates higher than the T table (the t count calculates 2.226 > t table 1.98472). 2) there is no influence of reading habit on writing mastery because the value T count lower than T table (t count 0.245 < t table 1.98472). 3.) There is a significant influence of curiosity and reading habit on writing mastery because F count higher than the F table (F calculates 3,383 > F table 3.09). Curiosity's contribution to writing mastery was 6.5%, and other factors influenced others. Keywords : Curiosity; Reading Habit; Writing Mastery.
