Abstract

This research analyzes the use of pictures to improve students’ speaking skills in 6/11 UP of Azizstan Foundation School, Pattani, Thailand in the academic year of 2558/2559 B. The objective of this research is to find out whether pictures can improve students’ speaking skills in Azizstan. The methodology of this research is Classroom Action Research which uses Pre-Test and Post-Test to know students’ score before and after pictures implemented. Most students are difficult to describe the object orally, they need pictures to illustrate and image the size or color of animals/houses/flowers. The researcher gives Pre-Test (First Cycle), the average’s score is 57.87. The score is under UP’s standard score (75). So that the researcher applies Post-Test (First Cycle). Then, the average’s score is 64.4 or increase 6.53 point. Although First Cycle shows that there is significant different between the result of Pre-Test and Post-Test (T0>Tt; 6.73>2.75), but the result is less than 75. Then, the researcher applies Pre-Test in Second Cycle. 40% students can pass the standard score. As a result, Post-Test’s score (Second Cycle) shows good improvement, almost 80% students pass standard score. According to data of Second Cycle, T-Test/T0 is 8. It means that T-Test’s score is higher than T-Table; 2.75 (significance level of 0.5%). So that, pictures can improve students’ speaking skills in 6/11 UP of Azizstan Foundation School, Pattani, Thailand in the academic year of 2558/2559 B.
