Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the learning strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers for children with special needs with visual impairments at the Wantuwirawan Special School (SLB) and the Salatiga State Special School (SLB), (2) Implementation of Islamic Religious Education teacher learning strategies for Children with Needs. Specifically for the blind in the Wantuwirawan Special School (SLB) and the Salatiga State Special School (SLB), and (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education teachers in Children with Special Needs for the Blind in the Wantuwirawan Special School (SLB) and the Salatiga State Special School (SLB), and how to overcome them. The method of collecting data was obtained through interviews with the principal, one PAI teacher at SLB Wantuwirawan, and two PAI teachers at SLB Negeri Salatiga, then observations and documentation were carried out. This type of research is descriptive qualitative by using data analysis of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The results showed that (1) learning strategies, using direct learning strategies or expository learning, and applying the principles of individual, totality, concreteness and the principles of Mobility Orientation (OM), (2) Implementation of learning strategies, learning activities are carried out according to the needs of students through beginner stage, teaching, and evaluation stage, (3) There are three learning supporting factors, namely: a. psychological and physical health, b. motivation of parents and educators, c. learning media in accordance with the characteristics of blind students. There are two inhibiting factors for learning at the Wantuwirawan Special School (SLB), namely: firstly, the printed package book facility in braille is not yet available, and secondly the condition of the classroom is not yet conducive. Meanwhile, at the State Special School (SLB) of Salatiga, there is a combined class between the physically handicapped and the visually impaired at different levels of junior high and high school. How to overcome obstacles in the Special School (SLB) Wantuwirawan, educators make a summary of the material using braille. Meanwhile, at the State Special School (SLB) of Salatiga, the learning materials are evenly distributed which can be captured by students. Both institutions also provide special classrooms for blind children with special needs (ABK). Keywords: Learning strategies, Islamic religious education teachers, and children with special needs
