Abstract

Munawaroh, Iis, Madinatul. 2021. The Effectiveness of @kampunginggrislc Instagram Account to Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery through Autonomous Learning (Pre-Experimental Study at English Education Department Students of IAIN Salatiga). A graduating paper, English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies of Salatiga. Counselor: Nur Muthmainnah, M.Pd. The objectives of the research are: (1) To find out the difference between students' vocabulary mastery before and after using @kampunginggrislc Instagram account with the autonomous learning model, (2) To find out whether @kampunginggrislc Instagram account is effective to improve students' vocabulary mastery with the autonomous learning model or not. This research was a pre-experimental design. The subjects were 55 of 3rd-semester students of English Education Department. Researchers used data collection techniques with tests that included 20 multiple choice questions as data collection, namely pre-test and post-test. Furthermore, the researcher analyzed the results of the pre-test and post-test using SPSS 25 for windows. The results showed that the average posttest score was higher than the pre-test mean, which means that the post-test average score was 85.09 and the pre-test score was 78.64. That means, there are differences in students' vocabulary mastery before and after using the @kampunginggrislc Instagram account. Furthermore, based on statistical analysis using t-test, the results of the t-test at a significance level of 0.05. T-test results showed the significance value (sig-2 tailed) is 0.000, less than 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05) meaning Ha is accepted. Based on the results, the @kampunginggrislc Instagram account is effective for improving vocabulary mastery in 3rd-semester students of the English Education Department.
