Abstract

ABSTRACT Zulfah, AfuzaShara. 2016. The Use of Picture and Song to Improve Vocabulary Mastery ( Classroom Action Research of the First Year Students of MTs Darul Ma`arif Pringapus in the Academic Year of 2016/2017). A Graduating Paper. English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) of Salatiga. Counselor: Ruwandi, S.Pd., M.A. Key Words: Picture, Song, Vocabulary Mastery. The aims of this research are 1). To find out that picture and song can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. 2). To find out that picture and song can significantly improve the students` vocabulary mastery. The participants of the research were 35 students. There are 2 cycles in this research. The researcher used observation sheet, documentation, field note, and written test to collect the data. The result of this research showed that score t-test of cycle I 4.57 and cycle II 3.67 was higher than t-table 2.03. The mean score of post test in cycle II was 86. So Minimum Mastery Criteria (75) was achieved. For the result it is concluded that the implementation of picture and song improved student’s vocabulary mastery of the first year students of MTs Darul Ma`arif Pringapus in academic year of 2016/2017.
