Abstract

The purpose of this study was to understand students' perceptions on the use of Circle Games in English vocabulary learning at the ninth students of MTs Al Uswah Bergas in the academic year 2022/2023 and to find out students' strategies to remember vocabulary after the use of the game. The method of this research was qualitative method. In this study, the researcher investigated students’ responses toward the strategy used by the teachers. It is along with the objective of this study to identify students’ perceptions about Circle Games strategies in learning English vocabulary. In this study, the researcher used 100 students as subjects. This data was gathered through the distribution of questionnaires and interview. The results of questionnaires and participant interviews will be displayed descriptively to answer the research questions. The researcher concluded that the Ninth-grade students of MTs Al Uswah Bergas had a positive perception of the use of Circle Games in English vocabulary learning. As evidenced by 91% of the total number of research subjects responding positively and only 9.03% responding negatively. The students’ strategies to remember vocabulary after use the Circle Games, use the “noticing the word” strategy by putting the word in their vocabulary notebook, “retrieving the word” by recalling words previously met or learned, and strategy of ”generating word knowledge” by visualizing examples of the words.
