Abstract

Nadiyya, F.A. 2022. The Effectiveness of Video and Power Point with Canva Application based to Teach Writing Recount Text at Tenth-Grade Students of MAN Salatiga in The Academic Year 2022/2023. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor : Nur Muthmainnah, M.Pd The objectives of the study are (1) To find out the differences between students’ writing ability in writing recount text before and after taught using video and power point with Canva Application based for the tenth-grade students of MAN Salatiga; (2) To find out whether video and power point with Canva Application based is effective in teaching writing recount text at tenth-grade students of MAN Salatiga. The researcher used quantitative as research method which is pre-experimental research design. The population of this research was all of tenth-grade students of MAN Salatiga. The number of population was 351 with the sample was class X.10 which consists of 33 students. The researcher applied pre-test before treatment and post-test after treatment as research instrument to collect the primary data. The data analysis in this research used SPSS 23.0 version. The result of data analysis indicated that the students’ score before and after taught using video and power point with Canva Application based has progress. The mean score of pre-test is 64.12 while mean of post-test is 86.94. It means that there is progress in students’ score. The researcher used N-gain test to know the category of effectiveness of video and power point with Canva Application based to teach writing recount text. The N-gain score is 0.63 and it showed that video and power point with canva based has medium category in N-gain rate so that video and power point with Canva Application based is effective enough to teach writing recount text. Furthemore, the researcher used paired sample t-test. The result of significant value (2-tailed) in t-test is 0.000 and it is lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). It can be interpreted that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The result of paired sample t-test indicates that there is a significant difference score in students’ writing ability on recount text before and after taught using video and power point with Canva Application based in class X.10 of MAN Salatiga. Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that video and power point with Canva Application based is effectively used to teach writing recount text at the tenth-grade students of MAN Salatiga.
