Abstract

ABSTRACT Fatonah, Siti. 2022. “The Use of English Song Lyrics to Tach English - Indonesian Translation Skills at The Eigth Grade Students of MTs Al - Bidayah Bandungan in The Academic Year 2021/2022”. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S, M.Hum. This study aims to know the effectiveness of English song lyrics media on teaching English-Indonesian translation skills of eight grade students of MTs Al-Bidayah Bandungan, and find out the extend of the effectiveness of the use English song lyrics to teach English - Indonesian translation skills. Besides, to knowing whether or not there are significant differences in ability before and after being taught using English song lyrics media. Researcher used a pre-experimental design using quantitative research. With one group pre-test and post-test design. Researcher chose one class to study with a sample of 31 students of class VIII B MTs Al-Bidayah. The analysis technique uses t-test, which compares the t-test and t-table values. The mean value of the pre-test was 62,90 and the post-test was 73,71. The increase was 10,81 (17,18%). It means that there is a significant difference and improvement after being given treatment using English song lyrics. The t-test value is 5,648 and the t-table 30 is 2,042. Then it was concluded that the t-test was higher than the t-table (5,648 > 2,042), and the 2-tailed significance value was 0,000 less than 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05).
