Abstract

Sukandi, Muhammad, 2022. English Foreign Language (EFL) Students’ Perceptions Toward Educational Video Projects in Computer Assisted Language (CALL) Class. Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Miftachudin, S.Pd.I., M.A. This research aimed to know the EFL students’ perceptions toward educational video projects in CALL class. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative, as a linear method with the research instrument used by conducting interviews with 7 students who had completed educational video project assignments in CALL class of English Education Department at IAIN Salatiga, the academic year 2020/2021. The results of the research showed that most students gave positive perceptions of educational video projects assignment in the teaching and learning process. Most students said the educational video project was interesting, exciting, relevant to the study, and beneficial. The project helped them to develop their digital skills, especially in video editing, improved their speaking skills, especially their pronunciation, increased their confidence in speaking, developed their creativity in making an educational video, and they also learned teamwork. However, the students claimed they worried they might be unable to manage the project. They also encountered numerous obstacles during the completion of the project, including those related to the recording and video editing process. The obstacles they faced during the recording included a lack of confidence in speaking in front of the camera, as well as difficulty in finding a suitable location and time for recording. Meanwhile, during the editing process, the students had issues with their limited ability to operate video editing software. Keywords: EFL students, perceptions, educational video projects, CALL
