Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out the correlation and to define the significant of the correlation between gender differences and students‟ self discipline toward students‟ language learning strategies of the second semester students of English Education Department of IAIN Salatiga, Academic year 2020/2021. The methodology of the research was correlational quantitative research design. The techniques of collecting data by filling out an online questionnaire (google form) during the Covid-19th pandemic situation. The data was taken in 2 (two) classes with the same subjects using random sampling and getting 45 respondents. The data obtained through SILL by Oxford (1990) and ASD by Fatih (2018) were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics through SPSS program version 20.0. The findings, first of all showed that there was no significant correlation between gender differences and LLSs where r = 1 and p = 0,352 >  = 0,05 or thitung = 0,942 < ttabel = 2,01808. Second, there was a significant correlation between self discipline and LLSs where r = 0,350 and p = 0,000 <  = 0,05 or thitung = 5,208 > ttabel = 2,01808. Third, there was a significant correlation between gender differences and self discipline toward LLSs where r = 0.335 and p = 0,000 <  = 0.05 or Fhitung = 17,922 > Ftabel = 3,21. So, alternative hyphothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hyphothesis (H0) is not accepted.
