Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze and find out Students’ problems in using Schoology for learning English. In addition, this study also analyzes Students’ strategies for overcoming the problems of using Schoology for learning English. The subjects in this study were students in the English Education Department at UIN Salatiga who have used Schoology application for learning English. The subjects consisted of 23 male and female students, as well as 5 students who were interviewed. In this study using mixed methods involving combining qualitative and quantitative data. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews to collect data and information from respondents. The result data from the questionnaire were collected online using Google Forms, while the results of the interview data were collected offline by coming directly to the UIN Salatiga campus. Based on the findings that have been made in this study, the researcher found that most students had problems using Schoology application for learning English. They argue that Schoology application is complicated to use, Schoology application uses a lot of internet data, Schoology application requires a strong internet signal when using it, and the instructions in Schoology are difficult to understand. Then, students’ strategies in overcoming the problems in using Schoology for learning English are asking and telling lecturers or other students to be able to help solve problems related to the use of Schoology, preparing enough media and internet data to access it, able to control emotions when there is a problem in using Schoology, learn to use the correct Schoology through Google and Youtube, and looking for a location or area that has a strong internet signal to access Schoology.
