Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the implementation of using Cartoon Story Maker (CSM) to enhance the students’ vocabulary mastery of students of second grade in MAN Tengaran. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). To improve the students’ ability, the researcher has extended two cycles to give the students opportunity to improve their comprehension. The researcher has given pre-test and post-test to see if there is an improvement or not. Each cycle consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The researcher finds that students become enthusiastic and more active during the lesson. In cycle 1, the mean score of post-test is higher than pre-test, 8.1 > 6.8. In cycle 2, the mean score of post-test is also higher than the mean score of pre-test, 8.5 > 7.4. The percentage of students who pass the KKM of the pre-test in cycle 1 is 51.6% and cycle 2 is 58.07%. While the percentage of post-test in cycle 1 is 83.9% and in cycle 2 is 90.3%. The result of T-test calculation from cycle 1 is 3.88 and cycle 2 is 5.59, it means that the using of CSM can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery.
