Abstract

Enough number of scientific writings have given thoughtful discussion on the role and application of syllabus, lesson plan, teaching and learning process, and evaluation, but rather few have given the spotlight for teaching material production and its production required skills when it comes to language teaching. Coming out from this issue, this article elaborates the process and results of digital teaching material production activities in the forms of learning videos and infographics creation undertaken by pre-service English teachers at IAIN Salatiga that involves a total of 72 students (for infographics creation project) and 23 groups of 2 or 3 (for learning video project). Observation, product analysis, and E-questionnaire were used to garner the data before they were analyzed qualitatively. The primary findings showcase that (a) regulating digital material production projects were proven effective not only to enhance teachers’ mastery of a lesson but also scaffold creativity and confidence in their ability as a teacher; (b) popular apps utilized for creating infographics are orderly Canva, Piktochart, Visme, Snappa, Easelly, and Venngage, meanwhile the ones for learning videos creation are Filmora Go, Kinemaster, Adobe Premiere Go, Sony Vegas Pro, Vivavideo, Inshot, moviemaker, and videopad; (c) all 72 students could completed the project duly and covers assessment criteria (identity, content, graph, creativity) and 22 out of 23 groups excelled the four assessment criteria (composition, videography, subtitling, creativity) (d) adding creativity and applying proper graphs were orderly the two primary challenges when creating infographics while setting up good videography and adding creativity were the major difficulties for learning video production
