Abstract

Islamic boarding university spread in various regionsas islam becomes the religion of majority of population in Indonesia. Pesantren school is an educational institution that has existed since pre-colonialization era by adopting as well as adapting the Hindu-Islamic educational system which in turn became the original education system in Indonesia (Daulay, 2009; Madjid, 2013; Nizar, 2013; Engku, et.al. 2014; Bin-Tahir, 2017, Habibi et.al., 2018). Such a system which was founded by Ki Hajar Dewantara in 1602 originally taught Islamic values to its santris (students). However, over time, to cope with the global challenges, it currently has not only a pondok (boarding school) but also a boarding university (day school) (Habibi, et.al., 2018). The santris spend their day time at madrasah from which they learn general and religious subjects; while the rest of the time will be spent at pesantrenby learning religious contents and socializing with their peers (Daulay, 2009; Habibi, et.al., 2018; Bazyar, 2015). In fact, pesantren co-two or three curricula i.e. Kementerian Pendidikan Nasional (Ministry of National Education), Kementerian Agama (Ministry of Religious Affairs), and Pesantren curriculum (Bin-Tahir et.al., 2017) which are implemented in different time and situation. Such a thing is conducted to be able to catch up to the rapid changing of the world.
