Abstract

The objective of the study are analyze the error through the students’ ability in changing passive to active voice in the sixth-semester students of English Education Department of IAIN Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022. The method of this research was the qualitative method. It employed qualitative methods to collect and analyze the data. This research was conducted with 26 students. The techniques of collecting data were multiple-choice tests and questionnaires to find out the students’ difficulties. Triangulation validity was used in this study as a data validity technique. Method triangulation, source triangulation, theoretical triangulation, and researcher triangulation are the four types of triangulation. Based on the research limitations, this study employs two types of triangulation: source triangulation and method triangulation. The researcher finds that the score of each respondent has increased significantly from the lowest to the highest. There are ten difficulty categories, with only two dominant difficulty categories: determining verb tenses and distinguishing between regular and irregular verbs. There is one type of error based on the research that is intralingual error (ignorance rules).
