Abstract

An Analysis of Students’ Interest and Attitude in Learning Morphology in Online Class Through Video Conference During COVID-19 Pandemic in English Education Departement of UIN Salatiga. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A. The purposes of this study are (a) to know the students' interest in learning morphology in online class through video conferencing (Zoom meeting) during covid-19 pandemic in English Education Department of UIN Salatiga, and (b) to find out students' attitude in learning morphology in online class through video conferencing (Zoom meeting) during covid-19 pandemic in English Education Department of UIN Salatiga. This research is a qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 30 fourth semester students of English Education Departement at UIN Salatiga. Questionnaires are used to collect data. The data that has been collected is then analysed to classify students' interests and attitudes toward learning morphology through video conferencing (Zoom meetings). The results of the research that have been carried out show that: First, The findings of the study about attention, enjoyment and curiosity show a positive response because most students are interested in learning morphology through Zoom meetings. According to the primary data collected in this study via questionnaires, students paid close attention in their Zoom meetings and stated that the lecturer's methods in class also influenced their interests. Second, The data findings about cognitive, affective, and behavioral show that most students have a good attitude; for example, most students never skip classes and actively participate in Zoom meetings. Students also have good attention, although they find it difficult to stay focused in Zoom meetings. and most of them said they felt lazy and ended up skipping class due to a bad internet connection. The students said their poor internet connection sometimes made them passive in Zoom meetings; that was one of the reasons they were too lazy to be active, and in the end, it could have a negative impact on their understanding of the material.
