Abstract

This study has the aims: (1) To know the use of Vocabulary Chain Game to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 3 Suruh in the Academic Year 2022/2023. (2) To find out students’ improvement on vocabulary mastery after the use of Vocabulary Chain Game at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 3 Suruh in the Academic Year 2022/2023. This study uses a Classroom Action Research. The researcher conducted the classroom action research into two cycles, each of which consists of four steps planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of the research are fifteen students in the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 3 Suruh. The data collection of this research were observation, test, and documentation. Implementing the Vocabulary Chain Game improves students’ vocabulary mastery for the eighth-grade at SMP Negeri 3 Suruh. Implementing Vocabulary Chain Game helped the students improve their vocabulary mastery, as indicated by an improvement in T-test results from cycle I to cycle II. The results of cycle I shows that the score of T-test is 3.828, and the score of cycle II is 8.600. It means that Vocabulary Chain Game is significant in improving students’ vocabulary mastery.
