Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there are significant differences in students' understanding of the Recount Text material for class VIII SMP N 1 Pucakwangi between classes that receive treatment in the form of using the Everyone Is A Teacher Here (ETH) strategy and classes that receive conventional learning strategies in the form of demonstrations and also to find out how effective the Everyone Is a Teacher Here (ETH)strategy is in helping students understand Recount Text material for class VIII SMP N 1 Pucakwangi in the 2022/2023 academic year. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII A and VIII B who were determined using the Cluster Random Sampling method. Cluster random sampling was chosen because of this sampling technique where a researcher divides the population into several separate groups which are known as clusters. Cluster random sampling is an area sampling technique used to determine the sample when the object to be studied or the data source is very large, making it impossible to select individual samples. In this study, the large population size makes Cluster Random Sampling the best technique for sample selection. This research is in the form of An Experimental Quantitative Study. The population of class VIII in this study was 216 students. A sample out of 60 students, 29 students as the experimental class and 31 students as the control class. The research instrument used was a test given at the beginning and at the end of the study. The data came from the post-test and pre-test which were then analyzed using the t test and the N gain test. The final results of this study, the authors conclude as follows: (1) From the results of research data analysis, the final results of the study showed that the average pre-test data for the experimental class was 6.172 and the average post-test for the experimental class was 17.379. Meanwhile, the pre-test average value for the control class was 4, 516 and the average post-test score for the control class is 9, 935. This shows that the average post-test score of the experimental class given the treatment Everyone Is A Teacher Here (ETH) strategy has a higher average than the average post-test control class with demonstration strategy. Based on SPSS for Windows 26.0 computer assistance in the t-test, t-count > t-table and also the significant value is less than 0.05 where the result is 0.000. Thus, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This data indicates that there is a significant difference in students' understanding of the Recount Text material for class VIII SMP N 1 Pucakwangi between the class receiving treatment in the form of using the Everyone Is A Teacher Here (ETH) strategy and the class receiving conventional learning strategies in the form of demonstrations. (2) The results of data analysis are in the form of a T-test with a significant result of 0.000 which is less than 0.05 and also an N-gain test where the average N-gain of the experimental class is 80.1844 which shows the level of effectiveness is included as effective so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. So, it can be concluded that the use of the Everyone Is A Teacher Here (ETH) strategy is more effective than the demonstration method for students' understanding of the Recount Text material for class VIII SMP N 1 Pucakwangi.
