Abstract

The aims of this research are to know the teacher’s teaching strategies used in reading comprehension class the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Losari and to analyze the difficulties or obstacle of learning reading comprehension and solving the problem which happened with the teacher and the students in the class. This research answers two questions as: (1) What are the teacher’s teaching strategies used in reading comprehension class at eighth grade of students of SMPN 1 Losari (2) What are the obstacles to learn reading comprehension and how to solve the problem for the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Losari. The data is collected through observation and interview. The sample which researcher used is purposive sampling. This technique is used because the researcher intentionally selects one subject or individual believed to have important or relevant information for the ongoing research. There are 4 types of triangulations to valid the data , those are : triangulation of data sources, methodological triangulation, triangulation of investigators, and triangulations of theory , this research is suitable with methodological triangulation. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive.
