Abstract

Yuli Pangestu, Eka. 2021. Analysis of Teachers’ Strategies in Online Reading Class on The Descriptive Text at The Eighth Grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Temanggung in The Academic Year 2021/2022. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training, and Education Faculty, State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Setia Rini. M.Pd. The research is about the teachers’ strategies in online reading classes on the descriptive text during the covid-19 pandemic at the eighth grade of smp muhammadiyah 1 temanggung in the academic year 2021/2022. The objectives of this research are; 1) To identify the teachers’ strategies in online reading classes on the descriptive text during the covid-19 pandemic at the eighth grade of smp muhammadiyah 1 temanggung in the academic year 2021/2022. 2) To find out the teachers’ problems in online reading class on the descriptive text during the covid-19 pandemic at the eighth grade of smp muhammadiyah 1 temanggung in the academic year 2021/2022. Data source of the research was qualitative research, there are interview, and questionnaire. This study found that teachers’ strategies in online reading class on the descriptive text during the covid-19 pandemic at the eighth grade used; 1) Skimming and scanning of reading strategies. 2) The teachers’ apply the procedure of teaching learning. 3) The teachers’ use expository strategies, inquiry strategies, and contextual strategies approach.4) The teachers’ use an purpose of the text, syllabus, using methods of learning, and use whtasapp group for the learning process in the online class. And this study also found that the teachers’ problems in online reading classes on descriptive text during the covid-19 pandemic at the eighth grade faced are; Management classroom, lack of student interest, limited vocabulary mastery.
