Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the improvements students achieved in writing descriptive in the first grade at SMP Sirujurokhim and to determine how the comic strip methods may be used to improve students' abilities while writing descriptive text. 30 students participated as the subjects for this research. The methodology for this study was classroom action research. The research steps were split into two cycles, each beginning with a pre-test to ascertain the starting skills of the students and ending with the teaching of the material. Students also partnered in groups to write a descriptive text. To find out whether the students understood the information, a post-test was given. The use of comic strips was effective and resulted in improved student learning results. The researcher gathered the mean data using the SPSS Windows 22 program. Pre-test cycle I had a mean of 52.1 and post-test cycle I had a mean of 78.1. The mean for cycle II of the pre-test was 77,1, while cycle II of the post-test was 84,4. And to determine the success rate of the effectiveness of using comic strips, it was necessary to carry out a comparative test between the student result in the two cycles (need to change it to T-test with the existing formula) with the T-table value of 30 students, the value of T-table (30 students) contained in the T-table that has been determined (2,045). in the cycle, I, the T-test obtained after doing the calculation was (9,8) and The T-test from cycle II was (6,07), and then comparing the T-test of cycle I, it has a bigger value than the T-table value (9,8>2,045) and so with the comparison between cycle II (6,07>2,045), Because the T-test was higher than T-table in every cycle it has meaning there was a good effect and brought an improvement in the using of comic strips in writing descriptive text
