Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the teachers problem in teaching reading skilss and teachers strategies in teaching reading skills of narrative text at the eight grade of SMP N 10 Salatiga 2022/2023. This research is a qualitative research. The respondents of this research were 2 English teachers of class VIII SMP N 10 Salatiga. Interviews were conducted in order to collect data. Data were analyzed and interpreted through qualitative procedures. The findings showed that teachers problems in teaching reading skills such as teachers are lack of proficiency in teaching reading and teachers are lack of strategies to teach vocabulary. The findins also showed that the teachers strategies in teaching reading skills such as CORI (Concept Oriented Reading Instructions), scaffolding, QAR (Questions Answer Relationship), and think aloud
