Abstract

This research entitled “An Analysis of Implicature in Comment of English Speeches Channel” is conducted to analyze the types of implicature found in comment of English Speeches channel. The research conducted by the researcher uses a qualitative design. The purpose of this study aims to answer two research problems, including the type of implicature found in comments on English Speeches YouTube channel videos and the type of implicature most commonly found in comments on English Speeches YouTube channel videos. The data of the research are taken from netizens’ comments in three videos of English Speeches channel. The data found by the researcher are categorized into four types of implicatures: conventional implicature (10 data), generalized conversational implicatures (5 data), scalar implicature (2 data), and particularized conversational implicatures (4 data). Furthermore, the most dominant kind of implicature found in comments of English Speeches Youtube channel is conventional implicature.
