Abstract

The objective of the study were; (1) To identify the implementation of using “Valorant game” as an online media in assisting speaking ability of EFL learners and (2) To analyze the impact of "Valorant game" towards speaking ability to EFL learners. The methodology of research was qualitative research, especially a descriptive qualitative. The techniques of collecting data were observation, interview, and documentation. The subject of this research was EFL learners especialy the community of gamer who play “Valorant game.” The result of this research showed that “Valorant game” can assist the speaking ability of EFL learners. It can be see from the result of observation and interview that show 3 of 5 EFL have good English skills and the rest have average abilities. The data can be seen from the assessment carried out to assess the 5 indicators of speaking, namely pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The implementation shows several phases in which the EFL interacts with foreign speakers in the game and gets some of its own effects. While the impact generated by the "Valorant game" itself is divided into 2, namely positive and negative impacts. The positive impact is increasing self-confidence in speaking, getting a place to practice speaking with a supportive environment, and adding several new vocabularies. While the negative impact is the pronunciation of “Dirty words” that are often spoken by other foreign speakers and also grammatical errors that often occur.
