Abstract

The objectives of this study are to know out the challenges teachers of teaching English to young learners in new normal era between MI Tarbiyatul Aulad and MI Ma’arif Pulutan, and to find out how to overcome the challenges in teaching English to young learners at MI Tarbiyatul Aulad and MI Ma’arif Pulutan. The type of this research is qualitative research. The technique of collect data was taken from observations in classroom and interviews with two teachers. The teacher was a 4th grade English teacher in MI Tarbiyatul Aulad Jombor and MI Ma’arif Pulutan. Data were analyzed and interpreted through qualitative procedures supplemented by data validation using data triangulation. The result of this study shows that there are several challenges faced by teachers in teaching English to young learners in new normal era. In MI Tarbiyatul Aulad Jombor, the challenges are lack of student material mastery, limited learning resources, and lack of attention. In MI Ma’arif Pulutan, the challenges are lack of motivation, lack of student material mastery, and lack of parental permission. Furthermore, to overcome the challenges, the teacher has some solutions such as remedial teaching, add learning resource, and coordinating students. Meanwhile, to overcome the challenges in MI Ma’arif Pulutan is provides the motivation, differentiation learning, and coordination with parents.
