Abstract

ABSTRACT Salma, Ummy.2023.Students’ Perception on Learning English (A Descriptive Qualitative Study at Sudirman Islamic Junior High School).A Graduating Paper. English Education Department.Teacher Training and Education Faculty.Salatiga Islamic State Unversity. Counselor: Prof. Dr. Sa’adi, M.Ag. This research aimed to find out the students’ perception on learning English at Sudirman Islamic Junior high School. It employed a descriptive qualitative method. It was conducted in Sudirman slamic Junior High School enclose ten students as a sample of this research. The data were collected through interview. To collect data, the study the interviewed with ten students. The responses from the interview were concluded to answer the research questions. The result of the study, showed that most of the students agree and have a positive perspective in learning English in classroom. Regarding students’ difficulties they often get problems to answer teacher’s questions. To solve the problems, they asked their classmates or opened the dictionary. Students also have self-study strategies to improve their English vocabulary such as, they noted new vocabularies in notebook, listened to music, watched a movie, read an English book, and playing games.
