Abstract

The main objective of this research is to find out how the significant impact of speaking ability of 8th grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga in the academic year 2022/2023 before and after they’re joining in “Kampoeng Bahasa” as an English additional activity. This study was experimental research study and bbbbb used one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample was 24 students that was chosen by random sampling technique. Test and non-test instrument were used in this research. Test instrument that was used in this research was speaking test. The speaking test used to assess students’ speaking ability. And the non-test instrument that was used was documentation. The documentation, the researcher got by the English teacher of SMP Muhammladiyah Plus Salatiga, it was formed students’ English speaking as the data pra-research. After all the data collected, the researcher analyzed by using SPSS 25.0 for windows through t-test. According to the research findings, the researcher found that the result of the average score of students’ speaking pre-test was lower than the post-test, it was 47.8 < 87. In addition, in the t-test value, the result was higher than the t-table value. The degree of freedom in the t-test used was 33. The t-table was 1.714, while the t-test was 39.478. It means that the t-test was higher than t-table, so the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It can be concluded that there was significant impact on students’ speaking skill after they were joining “Kampoeng Bahasa”. Keywords: Kampoeng Bahasa, Additional Activities, Speaking Skill
