Abstract

The research objectives are: (1) to determine whether or not there is a difference in the reading comprehension of eleventh grade students at SMK N 1 Tengaran before and after being instructed using the frontloading strategy during the academic year 2023/2024, (2) to determine out whether or not there is the effectiveness in the reading comprehension of eleventh grade students at SMK N 1 Tengaran before and after being instructed using the frontloading strategy during the academic year 2023/2024. The research method was pre-experimental. Pre-experimental design in which the authors used a one-group pre-test and post- test design. Pre-test and post-test were used as the instrument of research. Pretests are conducted to provide an understanding of what could happen if the treatment does not generate any results. Later, researcher compare the conditions before and after the treatment by examining the results of the posttest. Eleventh grade students consisting of 36 students were the sample of this research. The test was used to collect data in this research. The forms of pre-test and post-test were reading tests that were focused on a factual report text. The research findings indicate a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores following treatment. The mean score increase supports this: the pre-test mean score of 64,72 was lower than the post-test mean score of 86,39, indicating a 33,47% improvement in student scores. Based on the analyzed data, the researcher determined that the students' reading comprehension of the factual report texts achieved a significant excellent improvement after being taught using the frontloading strategy. The results are reflected in the t-test calculation, which shows a t-test value of 12.011, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.030 (12.011 > 2.030). Therefore, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The Null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This suggests that in order to teach students reading comprehension of factual report texts, frontloading is an effective technique.
