ABSTRACT Ningtyas, Maulidya, and Krisan (2023). The Effectiveness of Using YouTube BBC Learning English Videos to Enhance Students’ English Vocabulary Mastery A Graduating Paper Teacher Training and Education Faculty English Education Department. Salatiga State Islamic University. Counselor: Miftachudin, M.A. The objectives of this research were (1) To find out the difference in achievement in students’ vocabulary mastery before and after using YouTube BBC Learning English videos in the eighth-grade students of SMPIT Nidaul Hikmah Salatiga in the academic year 2023/2024; (2) To determine the effectiveness of YouTube BBC Learning English videos in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery in the eighth-grade students of SMPIT Nidaul Hikmah Salatiga in the academic year 2023/2024. This study investigated the effectiveness of YouTube BBC Learning English videos in enhancing eighth-grade students' English vocabulary mastery. A quantitative pre-experimental design with one-group pre-tests and post-tests was applied. The sample consisted of 32 eighth-grade students from SMPIT Nidaul Hikmah Salatiga. However, two students could not engage in the study activities from beginning to finish; therefore, the respondents were 30. In this research, the data were collected using a vocabulary reading test focused on recount text, documentation and analyzed using SPSS 22 software program for Windows. The findings of the research showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test after treatment. The mean score increased from 60.27 to 86.17, representing a 42.97% improvement. Based on the result of the data analysis, the t-test value of 8.927 is higher than the t-table value of 2.045 (8.927 > 2.045). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted based on the results, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. These findings suggest that YouTube BBC Learning English videos effectively enhance students' English vocabulary mastery. Keywords: Effectiveness; YouTube BBC Learning English; Vocabulary
