Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate teacher problems and strategies in carrying out offline learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative. The sample in this study consisted of 3 English teachers at MTs Silahul Ulum Trangkil Pati. Data collection techniques using interviews. The results of this study indicate that English teachers at MTs Silahul Ulum Trangkil Pati faced many obstacles in carrying out offline learning during the Covid-19 period such as preparation difficulties, implementation difficulties, assessment difficulties, teacher abilities and method, students motivation and interest, mother tongue interference, and lack of vocabulary. In addition, the teacher also uses many strategies such as the discussion method, question and answer method, playing cards, and lecture method. The implementation of offline learning during the Covid-19 period was quite good in the teaching and learning process. However, there are obstacles faced by teachers at MTs Silahul Ulum Trangkil Pati in carrying out learning. The school is looking for a solution to overcome this problem by strengthening teacher cooperation and building good relationships with parents of students with MTs Silahul Uum Trangkil Pati.
