Abstract

ABSTRACT Maulana, Irfan. 2022. The Influence Between Academic Procrastination Towards Students’ English Achievement (A Correlational Study at the Fourth Semester Students of English Education Department of UIN Salatiga in the Academic Year 2021/2022). A graduating paper submitted to the board of examiners as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the bachelor degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd.) State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Aprilian Ria Adisti, M.Pd. This research was conducted at UIN Salatiga. The objective of this research was to find out the significant correlation between academic procrastination towards students’ English achievement at the fourth semester students of English education department of UIN Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022. This quantitative research, employed a correlational method. There are two variables in this research. Academic procrastination as independent variable (variable X) and Students’ learning achievement as dependent variable (variable Y). The population of this research all of the fourth semester students of English education department of UIN Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022. The sample consists of 30 students was taken by using random sampling technique. The data were collected through academic procrastination questionnaire and documentation. The techniques of data analysis in this study are classic assumption and hypothesis test. The result shows there is a significant correlation. It is proven r sig. two- tailed lower than r sig. value (0.002 < 0.05), it means that significant correlation. The level coefficient correlation 0.269 lower than 0.05, so academic procrastination affect English learning achievement by 27%, and the direct correlation is negative result of showing the tcount<-ttable where -3.418 < -2.048. Most of the samples, 17 students out of 30 students fall into medium category (56.6%). So, the correlation between academic procrastination and students’ English achievement at the fourth semester students of English education department of UIN Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022 is significant, negative, and medium category.
